The Academic Signing Event celebrates all senior students and their commitment to continuing their education after high school. Seniors sign a "letter of intent" for the school/military branch/program/apprenticeship they are commiting to, in front of the entire school! This is a joyful event which recognizes next steps, as well as informs and inspires younger students.

Session 12—Meet the Pros -- Give Before You Get: A New Twist on Winter Wishes
What happens when 3 leadership teachers spend 12 hours in a car together?  They come up with a way to breathe new life and a sense of community into Winter Wishes.  See how one high school took their Winter Wishes program to the next level.  "Give Before You Get" gave students at Washington HS an opportunity to give back to their community before the annual Winter Wishes Assembly.  Before the day was over, students had created blankets; collected toiletries and socks for the homeless; collected and wrapped toys for foster kids; and wrote thank you cards to active duty service members, first responders, and bus drivers.  See what worked (and what didn’t) and share ideas on how to make it even better next year. There will also be candy!!!

Session 12—Meet the Pros -- Take Out the Trash: An Exercise in Servant Leadership
Participants rewrite a brief script of the Authoritative Style of Leadership (first) to soften the delivery, and (second) to introduce the first three (of four) Pillars of Servant Leadership.
Typically completed in two rewrites, in this 2019 WACA workshop --with Structured Notes and the Servant Leadership Rubric provided--our 10 minutes will include the attendees writing the second part only.
